Gan Shan’s Chef Ray Hui on Lunar New Year
As Lunar New Year approaches, restaurants across the country are marking the occasion with special dinners, symbolic dishes, and festive gatherings that honor tradition while bringing communities together. From whole fish for prosperity to long noodles for longevity, chefs are leaning into ingredients and techniques that carry meaning beyond the plate.
In Asheville, Gan Shan joins the Lunar New Year celebration with collaborations and menu items that reflect both Executive Chef Ray Hui’s heritage and hospitality, offering guests an opportunity to experience the holiday through thoughtfully prepared dishes rooted in cultural tradition.
Gan Shan will offer lucky red envelopes to restaurant guests who dine in and pay their tab in February, with 10%, 20%, and 25% discounts redeemable in March.
Gan Shan x Pop Bubble Tea created the Fire Horse Fruit Tea, available through the end of February.
Chef Ray will be serving bubble tea and mochi moon cakes at Pop Bubble Tea on February 14th, 12-2pm.
The focus isn’t just on the food itself, but on creating a shared moment around the table, one that blends history, family, and celebration in a way that feels both personal and welcoming.
