Fonta Flora x Jettie Rae’s Release “The Pearl”
Jettie Rae’s Oyster House and Fonta Flora Brewing announce the return of The Pearl, their collaborative oyster pilsner, just in time for North Carolina Oyster Month and National Seafood Month this October.
The Pearl (5.5% ABV) is a seasonal brew created through a blend of local two-row pilsner malt and a dash of dextrin malt for foam stability. Whole oysters and shells, selected specifically by Jettie Rae’s, are steeped into the mash, adding minerality, depth, and texture. While oyster beers are historically brewed as stouts or porters, The Pearl offers a lighter, maritime take: crisp, refreshing, and perfectly suited to seafood.
“With the best oysters around, partnering with Jettie Rae’s for this crispy oyster pilsner was a no brainer,” said Todd Boera, Owner of Fonta Flora Brewing.
“Working with Todd and his exceptional team has been an incredible honor,” said Eric Scheffer, Owner of Jettie Rae’s Oyster House. “To be included in their process—and to witness their mastery of the beer world firsthand—was both inspiring and humbling. Their talent, innovation, and passion for craft are unmatched.”
First released in 2024, the pilsner quickly became a seasonal favorite. Its return reflects the enduring partnership between Jettie Rae’s, recently named one of the Top 10 Everyday Eats in the U.S. by Tripadvisor, and Fonta Flora, known for brewing with local agriculture and wild flora of Appalachia.
The Pearl will be available starting September 24 while supplies last in cans at Fonta Flora’s taprooms and at Jettie Rae’s Oyster House in Asheville.
