Southside Community Farm on Good Morning America

Our agency was happy to work with Good Morning America on a segment featuring Southside Community Farm. The segment was part of "Asheville Rising," a special 2-hour livestream event on March 27, in which GMA marked the six-month anniversary of Helene striking the region and showcased hometown heroes who worked tirelessly in their community in Helene’s wake.

The best moment of the morning: when Good Morning America announced Southside Community Farm will receive $50,000 from Food Lion to continue their free food programming and further their mission of Black food sovereignty. Congrats to this well-deserving crew!

Southside’s farm manager, Chloe Moore, issued a thoughtful statement about the experience and the segment on SCF’s Instagram.

As a Black-led nonprofit organization in a historically segregated Black neighborhood, Southside Community Farm seeks to prioritize the needs of Black people and other community members of color while celebrating diverse cultures and foodways. Their mission is not only to feed people, but to co-create a web of food sovereignty in which community members have tangible power over their local food system. This mission includes creating and supporting avenues of education, climate resilience, food access, seed sovereignty, small-scale economic viability, joy, rest, healing, and more. Learn more here.
