NCWN Announces 40th Fall Conference

Registration is now open for the North Carolina Writers’ Network 2025 Fall Conference, scheduled to take place November 7–9 in Wrightsville Beach. This year’s conference will mark the organization’s 40th anniversary, with a weekend of workshops, readings, and special events honoring four decades of connecting, promoting, and supporting writers across the state.

The Fall Conference is the Network’s largest annual event, drawing hundreds of writers from North Carolina and beyond. Attendees will choose from workshops in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and the business of writing, taught by a distinguished faculty of published authors, editors, and publishing professionals. This year’s program will also feature anniversary celebrations woven throughout the weekend, reflecting on NCWN’s history and looking ahead to its future.

Award-winning author Ben Fountain will deliver the keynote address on Friday evening, sharing insights from their career and reflections on the craft of writing. Distinguished faculty members include Therese Ann Fowler, Clyde Edgerton, Michael Ramos, Melissa Crowe and many more, with the full lineup on the conference website.

“The Fall Conference has always been a space where writers come together to learn from one another and feel part of something larger,” says NCWN Executive Director Ed Southern. “This year, that sense of connection will be even more powerful as we celebrate forty years of nurturing North Carolina’s literary community.”

Alongside the keynote and workshops, the conference will offer open mics, faculty readings, networking sessions, and the annual banquet. Attendees will also have opportunities to add on to their conference experience with a dive deep into their genre through selective, intensive Master Classes, or meet one-on-one with agents in the Manuscript Mart.

Registration is open to both NCWN members and nonmembers. Space is limited for Master Classes and Manuscript Mart.
